Your data, your controls

Data Choices

A plain-language index of the controls available for local and server-backed CutBrief data.

Use the app to start a data action

Settings → Data Controls in the CutBrief app is the authoritative way to initiate clearing, export, deletion, consent, and share-link actions. This page is informational; it is not a web form. Email is for support when an in-app action has a recoverable failure.

Clear local free History

The free Upgrade snapshot is stored only in local History on the device where you received it. Use Clear local history in the app to remove it.

Local free History is separate from server and account data. It is not included in export or account deletion, cannot be restored through StoreKit or Sign in with Apple, and cannot be recovered after you clear it, remove the app, or lose its app data.

Export or delete server-paid data

Use Data Controls to export structured account or anonymous session data, delete an available paid session, and remove server-backed Barber Card history, generated visual simulations, exports, and share-scoped content that CutBrief controls.

Anonymous server session data can be deleted without creating or linking an account. The app may need the session capability stored on your device to authorize the request.

Delete an optional Sign in with Apple account

If you linked optional Sign in with Apple recovery, initiate complete account deletion inside the app. The process blocks new paid work, revokes public shares, removes or irreversibly unlinks account-linked CutBrief data, revokes applicable Sign in with Apple authorization tokens, disconnects the account link, and signs the device out.

Account deletion cannot be undone. Server-paid History will not be recoverable. Device-local free History remains until you clear it separately. The app will explain how any linked unused Generation Pass will be handled before you confirm deletion.

Revoke public share links

Use the share controls for the relevant Barber Card to revoke a public link before its default 72-hour expiry. Revocation stops the share token from displaying the card. The underlying paid History remains until you delete the session or account.

What deletion may not remove immediately

Deletion from active systems may be followed by deletion through ordinary, access-restricted backup cycles. CutBrief may retain only the minimum purchase, refund, delivery, privacy-request, fraud-prevention, security, accounting, tax, dispute, and legal records for as long as needed or permitted.

Apple and independent providers may retain their own transaction, security, safety, abuse-monitoring, or legal records under their policies. CutBrief cannot erase records controlled independently by those providers. The Privacy Policy explains the full retention schedule and rights.

Apple refunds are separate

Deleting a session or account, clearing local History, withdrawing consent, or revoking a share link does not request or cancel an Apple refund. Refund requests and approval are controlled by Apple through its Report a Problem service.

If an in-app data action fails and shows a Deletion Request ID or another support-visible identifier, visit Support for safe contact guidance. Do not email a photo, Sign in with Apple token, receipt/JWS, password, secret, or other sensitive material.
